Pauwel Kwak was a brewer and owner of the 'De Hoorn' inn in Dendermonde in the time of Napoleon. Coachmen couldn't leave their coach and horses β so Kwak commissioned a special glass that could hang safely aboard the coach.
In 1982, inspired by the tale, Ivo Bosteels created the Pauwel Kwak amber beer and recreated the iconic glass, so the legacy of an unconventional genius lives on.
